Debate Master Class “Social Science” Has Taken Place

On February 24, a discussion master class on the topic “Social Science” was organized through the Zoom platform by the Science and Education Innovation Center (ZIIC) of the Liepaja Municipal Education Department in cooperation with the Association “Debate Center”.

The aim of the master class was to give debaters and their coaches from all over Latvia an insight into what social science is, to supplement their knowledge in the debate by learning various questioning and questioning techniques, and to create possible debate resolutions on the topic.

Two specialists were attracted to the master class – Ilze Priedniece, a representative of the Latvian Fund of Nature, who also works as a coordinator and project manager of the nature observation portal dabasdati.lv, as well as a debater with extensive experience, Kristofers Kalniņš – Liberis, a student of law and diplomacy at the Riga Graduate School of Law.

In total, almost 60 participants from various cities in Latvia participated in the class. Some of them were from Liepaja, Iecava, Daugavpils, Cesis, Bauska, Jelgava and Riga. Possible debate resolutions on the topic “Social Science” created during the practical workshop will be processed and then used in the debate tournaments organized by the Association “Debate Center”.

The project "Development of the Innovation Centre in Liepaja City" is funded by the EEA/N grant programme "Research and Education".  Its total cost is EUR 986 049.00, of which EUR 754 327.40 is co-financing of the Norwegian Financial Instrument, EUR 133 116.60 is co-financed by the State budget of Latvia and EUR 98 605.00 by Liepaja City Municipality.
